Do you work with students in challenging situations? Are you tired of seeing these kids suffer? Would you like to offer new tools for coping with family incarceration, stress, anger, and more? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, don’t miss your opportunity to attend Extended Family for Kids Leader Training hosted by Family Connection, Thursday, July 31. The cost is $50 per person and you can register online at www.extendedfamilyhelp.org
To register, you must be an employee or volunteer with an organization that maintains good child practices. Past Trainees have included school counselors and administrators, SROs, law enforcement, juvenile probation officers, Children’s Advocacy Center, DHR, Big Brothers Big Sisters staff and volunteers, and multiple community resource providers.
Extended Family for Kids (EFK) is an evidence-based, 9-lesson Curriculum for K-12 students with any loved one incarcerated or at-risk from some other family disruption. EFK teaches students to make healthy lifestyle choices to improve their quality of life. EFK Lessons build self-esteem, ease feelings of shame, ease isolation, decrease stress, address anger issues, and strengthen communication skills.
In EFK Leader Training, you will experience all 9 Lessons of Extended Family for Kids, hands-on. Trainees receive the Curriculum Guide (normally $200), training and activity supplies to use in their own EFK groups, EFK leader shirt, and certificate of completion. No additional technology or licensing is required. Trained EFK Leaders are fully equipped to begin leading groups immediately.
EFK Leader Training is available at the discounted rate of $50, including the Curriculum Guide, because “This Training project was supported by Subgrant #2024-JF-C1-379 awarded by the Law Enforcement/Traffic Safety Division of ADECA and the U.S. Department of Justice.”
