Extended Family’s re-entry program, Extended Success for Life, is designed to support returned citizens, individuals recently released from jail or prison, as they reintegrate into their families and communities. This year, we have expanded Extended Success for Life to include services for returned citizens coming home to Calhoun County.

Extended Success for Life provides returning citizens with the tools, support, and guidance necessary to rebuild their lives outside of prison. Our program follows a comprehensive, three-phase model: Dream, Learn, and Live.

During the initial phase, Dream, participants are encouraged to envision a positive future through goal-setting activities that focus on physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Structured lessons and reflective exercises help individuals identify personal aspirations and begin to build a vision for their lives beyond incarceration.

During the second phase, Learn, participants engage in a structured program that includes individualized instruction, interactive lessons, and access to local community resources. This stage equips them with practical tools to take measurable steps toward their goals.

In the final phase, Live, participants receive personalized guidance and support as they put their plans into action. With step-by-step assistance, they begin living out the goals they set – building confidence, stability, and a pathway to long-term success.

Extended Success for Life is a free twenty-week long mentoring program designed to help break the cycle of incarceration and reduce recidivism by offering a meaningful, hope-filled alternative for those striving to rebuild their lives. This project was supported by subaward #2025-DJ-02-137 awarded by the Law Enforcement and Traffic Safety Division of ADECA and the U.S. Department of Justice.

If you know someone in Cherokee, Calhoun, Etowah, or DeKalb counties who has recently been released from incarceration and could benefit from support in reestablishing their life, please reach out to Jerry Clemons at 256-706-2043 or via email at jerry@extendedfamilyhelp.org.

Together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of returned citizens and the communities they call home.
