The students in Extended Family Leadership Academy (EFLA) embrace the motto, “Lead Yourself.” They are active participants in each group, learning about job readiness, communication, health, and financial independence. They are open to new ideas, self-evaluation, and growth and take pride in what they can achieve using what they learn in the program.

The seniors have many opportunities through EFLA like the annual Dress for Success Shopping Spree and scholarship program. This year, seniors in two different groups asked if we had ever given cords for students who had completed the 18-week series of EFLA lessons. This was the first time a student had requested cords, and we were eager to fulfill that dream. After receiving permission from the school administrators, we were proud to present seniors at Gaylesville High School and Gaston High School with cords to wear at graduation.

We are tremendously proud of these students and all that they have accomplished. Extended Family Leadership Academy helps students get from where they are to where they want to go. We are happy to have had a part in helping Our Kids (because they will always be Our Kids) as they continue their journey into adulthood.
